Speed Painting: Inspiration

A friend of mine shared this with me and I was blown away by it.

I've been having all sorts of technical problems but the past couple of months but I have a new computer! yay! and most of those problems are gone.  I plan on coming back to blogging sooner that you can blink an eye.

In the meantime, enjoy this and be inspired...

Training Mode... running the Sahara

The Sahara!? Well, not really.

I started running again a couple of weeks ago.  And even though I am not really running the Sahara, it felt that way in the beginning.  Stepping out from any comfort zone requires a willingness to strip yourself from outdated mental patterns and step into hard work.

I ran my first half marathon a year ago, and it's been the toughest physical pressure I have ever put myself into.  I don't want to sound so dramatic, but for my 33 year old body, it really was tough.  Today I stand firm on the idea of getting stronger, because I know I can.  So, I started training, running everyday, pushing forward.  And yes, I plan to run again next January.

My sister texted me last night and recommended me a documentary called Running the Sahara.  Wow!!! Talk about motivation.  I included the trailer for you to see the incredible journey these three men took.

I may not be running the Sahara, but who's to say I won't one day.

Eternal Sunshine

"Blessed are the forgetful: for they get the better even of their blunders."

My favorite movie in the whole world.  Brilliantly written, with a hint of sarcasm on the ultimate question about love and relationships: do they last? can love survive above all?

I watched it over the weekend and has filled my head with impossible thoughts and a primitive optimism.

Dialogue:

Joel: I can't see anything that I don't like about you.
Clementine: But you will! But you will. You know, you will think of things. And I'll get bored with you and feel trapped because that's what happens with me.
Joel: Okay.
Clementine:[pauses] Okay.

Home, a song that always makes me feel good!

I absolutely love them! Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros have an indie-rock vibe that could easily fit into the Woodstock scene as natives of their time.  Makes me feel very happy :)

Yellow: A sweet animation video

Things were kind of hectic during the morning... important stuff, little time, everything at once.

It's raining now, and I'm felling kind of mellow and slow.  This song has been in my head all day, and thought on sharing it with you all.  Coldplay is one of my favorite bands....

A sweet French tune

It feels like a melodic french kiss. Carla Bruni is part of my usual suspects in my playlists.  I get drawn to her indie, boho state of mind.  Here's one of my favorites, with English subtitles.

Dans Serpentine: Beautiful Vintage Visuals

I stumbled upon this magnificent short, vintage French film and just fell in love with it.

After much research I finally understood the origin.  It is dated back to 1899 and it was shot by the Lumiere Brothers, the pioneers and creators of cinematography as we pretty much know it today.  Back in the time there was no color yet available for film, and it is said that the colors were added by hand, frame by frame.  It must have been an amazing experience to watch such visuals for the very first time, when it was first released.

The film was inspired by the work or Loie Fuller, an American dancer who made it big in France with her unusual artistry.  Fuller became at the time the image of the Art Nouveau movement.  The Lumiere Brothers heard about her art, and used it as a means to portray the wonders of cinematography.  The dancer in the film is not Fuller, though.

You can read more about all of this in Wikipedia here.

The end of a week....

Hello my lovelies! It's Sunday, and it's the end of an interesting week for me.  I have a lot of stuff in my mind regarding inspiration, creativity, and artistic style, and I will be sharing my thoughts on these subjects throughout the next week that comes.  It seems as if I have a revolution in my head and need to sort some things out.

It's cloudy and gloomy in this part of the world.  My sweetheart is cooking his part of a homemade meal (my part is ready and smells delicious :-P ) and, while waiting for him to finish, I spotted this cute, short animation video in youtube.

Hope your Sunday is turning out good for you too.....

Royalty in the making

So it seems the only thing everybody's talking about is the Royal wedding taking place tomorrow.  Bravo for the couple! I wish them well.

Today, while working on some party favors for my friend's baby shower, I tuned in the movie "Young Victoria".  It was so good, I decided to share the trailer with you.  An entirely different era with entirely different royalty.

It's Only Love

I found this video and I loved it.  A super cool animation effect filled with lots of love and heartache.... I guess we can all relate to that.  Enjoy!

Great song playing on my stereo...

Spanish is my mother tongue.  So, I pretty much listen to music in Spanish all the time.  After a late morning breakfast, my sweetie turned on Pandora on our TV and this is the first song that came out.

I absolutely love it!! So I'm sharing it here with you with this youtube video that has the subtitles in English.  Excellent songwriting by a great artist....

New soul

Do you know how to spot a new soul?  It is said that new souls carry an innocence with them, a naive thinking that everything is possible.  Old souls, on the other hand, tend to have a somber look on their faces, a constant resignation of the way things are.  New souls are light spirited.  Old souls know the consequences too well.

I consider myself a new soul.  I've had my share of disillusionment and grief, but yet I carry a smile with me wherever I go.  I am not a happy-happy, joy-joy girl, but I do consider myself an optimist.  Life is good.  It certainly is.

This song is my feel-good song.  I have it readily available on my playlist for an instant boost of good humor and a smile.
